Carbon Fiber Hoods Main Page Purchase a Lancer Carbon Fiber Hood Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 7 Conversion December 26, 2004 In the tuning world things have been changing. The top tuner car for the 90s was largely dominated by Honda and more specifically the Civic. Honda has always done a great job with creating a sporty compact car that performs well and requires little maintainance, making it a perfect car to modify due to the large amount of aftermarket performance parts availible. In the last few years, many companies have made a run at following the footsteps of the Honda Civic by creating thier own tune-worthy sport compact cars. In the thick of this market, Mitsubishi motors has always had a nice stake in the game with the ever popular Eclipse. After that came the Mitsubishi Lancer which was sporty enough to have the potential to be a tuner, but also sensible enough to capture a larger and more conservative clientele. The Lancer, introduced in 2002 in the US, has also brought along its big brother the Evolution 8 in 2003. The Evolution series had made its mark in the foreign market and has now invaded the US market with its latest reincarnation, a turbocharged 278 horsepower lightweight with a powerful punch. The Evo 8 has also gained the nod of the public as Paul Walkers weapon of choice for the latest installment of the Fast and the Furious: 2 Fast 2 Furious. At a price tag of $35k for the Evo 8 MR edition, this puts it well above the grasp of the average sport compact tuning enthusiast. Well you might not have the cash to pick up the Evo 8, but you can get close with even the bottom of the line Lancer. A good customer of ours, Jose Tamallo, recently cashed out of his Honda Accord unfortunately due to a recent automobile accident. With his insurance check he picked up the base model Lancer ES for less than $13K brand new. Jose gave us $2K to work with at our discretion and heres a look at what we did. Would you believe that we were able to get this Lancer to look like the EVO 7 in the pic above with $2k and less than 6 moves to check mate? You bet. We started with the EVO 7 conversion from Extreme Dimension which ran Jose about $600. Then we through in a VIS Lancer Evo style carbon fiber hood at $600 shipped. Notice the Evo carbon fiber hood was the hottest selling carbon fiber hood of 2004. The carbon fiber hooddesign which was made for several Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Ford and Toyota models was based on the JDM Evo 7 Hood. After that we got Jose a set of JDM Evo 7 Tail Lights from SPW for $300, a set of Arospeed lowering springs for a measly $180 and an Erebuni Evo 7 rear spoiler for just shy of $300. Total cost of the parts including shipping only ran to $2180 and gave Jose an unbelievably stylish looking and rare EVO 7 look alike. This was a fun project and one we are looking forward to putting together for another deserving individual! Let us know if you would like us to put this package together for you.
