ACURA INTEGRA CARBON FIBER HOODS

December 16, 2004

The Acura Integra has been a long time favorite in the import tuning scene. Boosted in popularity by its lightweight, reliabiltiy, low cost and stylish looks, this vehicle has been a favorite first time car for many first time drivers. Availible in three trimes for the 1990-93 model (GS, LS, RS) and four for the 1994-01 (GS, LS, GSR and Type R) in two and four door versions, this vehicle was designed to please the masses.

For the popularity of this car in the import tuning scene, aftermarket parts and accessories are only second to its sibling the Honda Civic. Several stylish and lightweight carbon fiber hoods and trunks are now availible for the 3rd generation model from carbon fiber manufacturers such as VIS Racing, Siebon, TC Sportline and Carbon Creations.

VIS Racing, the predominant carbon fiber manufacturer, has released four common hood designs for the Acura Integra, these styles include the OEM style which follows the factory styling of the orignal hood, the Invader which is based on the hood from the Civic ECI Veilside body kit, the Extreme GT which gives the car a stout yet svelte grand tourismo profile, and the latest rage in the form of the EVO, based on the Japanese Mitsubishi Evo 7. VIS Racing also has full carbon fiber trunks for both the two and four door, generation two and three models.

Seibon, newcomer to the carbon fiber industry, has hit 2005 with a bang with a whole new line up of carbon fiber hoods for the Integra. These include variations of the VIS frontrunners with a slightly different facelift for the new model year. Seibons lineup includes the OEM, VSII which is similar to the VIS invader but with a split vent, the XGT which uses almost the same mold as the VIS extreme GT, and the EVO which looks almost like the VIS minus the two vents on the side.

Following closely behind are the carbon fiber hoods by Carbon Creations and TC Sportline which are nearly identical and likely to be produced at the same manufacturing plant or at least off the same mold. Both these companies offer an OEM hood as well as a Spyder or Supersport hood which has a front facing V shaped induction port.
